You can seam solid surface sheets into desired shapes using a two-part adhesive. The same technique creates thick edges, which can be machined using tools and techniques as those of woodworkers.

Being both nontoxic and hypoallergenic to humans, Affinity Solid Surface is free of heavy metals, and one of the few materials recognized as being safe for food contact. All Affinity colors are nonporous, and mold, mildew, and bacteria resistant. Affinity is also SGS certified, which demonstrates that it's compliant with national and international regulations and standards.
Limitations? Barely.
Solid Surface as a whole has a small amount of limitations, as we are always telling our customers to push your imagination to the limits. That being said, certain high-heat applications (anything above 400 degrees F) are discouraged, due to the increased danger of cracking.
